This vomeronasal receptor gene lacks transcript support, possibly because vomeronasal receptor genes are expressed in only a very small fraction of neurons, and thus, transcript evidence may be difficult to detect for all functional genes. This gene, also known as V1rh9, is a member of the V1rh sub-cluster, as described in PMID:11802169. While the ORF is intact compared to other V1r genes, the lack of transcript and functional data for this and other similar genes makes it difficult to determine if these represent functional genes or pseudogenes. Both PMIDs 11802169 and 19952141 consider this gene to be functional. |
