Public Note for CCDS 19009.1 |
The coding region has been updated to extend the N-terminus to one that is more supported by available conservation data or publications. The updated start codon is conserved only in mouse and rat, so this N-terminal extension could be rodent-specific. While the updated start codon has a weak Kozak signal, an alternative downstream start codon exists that is more widely conserved and has a strong Kozak signal. It is possible that leaky scanning by ribosomes may allow this downstream start codon to be used at least some of the time. Use of the downstream start codon would result in a protein that is 7 aa shorter at the N-terminus. |
Public since: CCDS release 2, NCBI annotation release 36.1, Ensembl annotation release 39
