Expression: According to AceView, this gene is expressed at high level, 2.3 times the average gene in this release. The sequence of this gene is defined by 274 GenBank accessions from 248 cDNA clones, some from brain (seen 12 times), testis (10), liver (9), thymus (9), uterus (9), embryonic stem cells, dmso-treated H9 cellline (7), leiomyosarcoma (6) and 82 other tissues. We annotate structural defects or features in 6 cDNA clones.
Alternative mRNA variants and regulation: The gene contains 24 distinct gt-ag introns. Transcription produces 18 different mRNAs, 15 alternatively spliced variants and 3 unspliced forms. There are 3 probable alternative promotors, 3 non overlapping alternative last exons and 9 validated alternative polyadenylation sites (see the diagram). The mRNAs appear to differ by truncation of the 5' end, truncation of the 3' end, presence or absence of 6 cassette exons, overlapping exons with different boundaries.
Note that mRNA .kAug10 was found in vivo, although it is a predicted target of nonsense mediated mRNA decay (NMD).
Function: There are 6 articles specifically referring to this gene in PubMed. Functionally, the gene has been proposed to participate in processes (DNA repair, double-strand break repair via homologous recombination). Proteins are expected to have molecular functions (double-stranded DNA binding, protein binding, RNA binding, single-stranded DNA binding) and to localize in nucleus. Putative protein interactors have been described (RAD51, USP12, USP46, WDR48).
Protein coding potential: 11 spliced mRNAs putatively encode good proteins, altogether 10 different isoforms (7 complete, 1 COOH complete, 2 partial).
