Ferripyochelin Binding Protein (FBP): FBP is an outer membrane protein which plays a role in iron acquisition. It binds iron when it is complexed with pyochelin. It adopts the left-handed parallel beta-helix (LbH) structure, and contains imperfect tandem repeats of a hexapeptide repeat motif (X-[STAV]-X-[LIV]-[GAED]-X). Proteins containing hexapeptide repeats are often enzymes showing acyltransferase activity. Acyltransferase activity has not been observed in this group.
