P2Y purinoceptor 10, member of the class A family of seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptors
P2Y10 receptor is a G-protein coupled receptor that is activated by both sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) and lysophosphatidic acid (LPA). Phylogenetic analysis of the class A GPCRs shows that P2Y10 is grouped into the cluster comprising nucleotide and lipid receptors. Although the mouse P2Y10 was found to be expressed in brain, lung, reproductive organs, and skeletal muscle, the physiological function of this receptor is not yet known. S1P and LPA are bioactive lipid molecules that induce a variety of cellular responses through G proteins: adhesion, invasion, cell migration and proliferation, among many others.
