cl31119: ATPase-IID_K-Na Superfamily
potassium and/or sodium efflux P-type ATPase, fungal-type
Initially described as a calcium efflux ATPase, more recent work has shown that the S. pombe CTA3 gene is in fact a potassium ion efflux pump. This model describes the clade of fungal P-type ATPases responsible for potassium and sodium efflux. The degree to which these pumps show preference for sodium or potassium varies. This group of ATPases has been classified by phylogentic analysis as type IID. The Leishmania sequence (GP|3192903), which falls between trusted and noise in this model, may very well turn out to be an active potassium pump.
