cl37474: ZF_C2H2 Superfamily
Zinc finger, C2H2 type
The C2H2 zinc finger is a classical zinc finger domain. C2H2-type zinc fingers are ubiquitous; more than 1% of all mammalian proteins are predicted to contain at least one zinc finger. They often function as DNA or protein binding structural motifs, such as in eukaryotic transcription factors, and therefore they play important roles in cellular processes such as development, differentiation, and oncosuppression. C2H2 zinc finger proteins contain from 1 to more than 30 zinc finger repeats.
