Source of DNA used for sequencing: Nora Besansky, University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame IN 46556-0369. The DNA was purified from Anopheles gambiae Pimperena colony, available through MR4. Collected in Pimperena, Mali in November 2005. Established by combining ca. ... 5 isofemale families that were molecularly identified as A. gambiae S molecular form and karyotyped as 2Rb/b; 2La/+. DNA source for plasmid and fosmid libraries was adult males; for BAC libraries it was pupae of mixed sexes. Total sequence traces comprise 82% plasmid reads (38% from 3-4kb inserts; 44% from 10-12kb inserts), 16% fosmid reads, and 3% BAC ends (90 kb inserts). The ABKQ01000000 version of this project included low-coverage degenerates from the many minor variant haplotypes in the sequenced population. Those low-coverage degenerates were excluded from this version of the project, ABKQ02000000. Long-term curation of the sequence and subsequent annotation updates are the responsibility of VectorBase at http://www.vectorbase.org. This version of the assembly, g4, represents 8x coverage of the genome. more
