Staphylococcus

Comparison of pathogenic Staphylococci

See Genome Information for Staphylococcus
A comparison of three pathogenic Staphylococci revealed that S. saprophyticus has almost none of the virulence factors of the other two Staphylococci. Instead, S. saprophyticus has specific virulence factors for urinary tract infections including specific adhesins and transporters that are adapted to the urinary tract environment.
