Microarray profiling of STEP knockout mouse striatum

(Submitter supplied) STEP (striatal-enriched tyrosine phosphatase) is a brain-specific phosphatase named for its robust expression in striatum. Brains from homozygous and heterozygous STEP knockout mice and wild-type littermates were harvested, and striatum microdissected. RNA was extracted and hybridized to Affymetrix 230_2 microarray chips.

Striatal-enriched protein tyrosine phosphatase (STEP) knockout effect on striatum

Analysis of striatum from striatal-enriched protein tyrosine phosphatase (STEP)+/- and -/- littermates. Brain-specific tyrosine phosphatase STEP is associated with de-phosphorylation of several key neuronal signaling proteins. Results provide insight into role of STEP in synaptic plasticity.
