This study determined the complete mitochondrial genome of Tupaia belangeri subsp.yaoshanensis (T.b. yaoshanensis), a representative of the eutherian order Scandentia. The complete mitochondrial genome is 16,777 nt in length, with no obvious deviation from the general organization of the mammalian mitochondrial genome. The nucleotide composition was 32.28% of A, 26.82% of T, 14.79% of G, and 26.11% of C. 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), two ribosomal RNA (rrnS and rrnL) genes (12S and 16S), and 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes. The first determined mitogenome sequence of T.b. yaoshanensis will provide fundamental data for further exploring mtDNA evolution in tree shrew.
