Bacterial strain Rhodococcus opacus G13 is an active decomposer of oil and oil sludge. It shows high adhesive, emulsifying activity against hydrocarbons (hexane, heptane, hexadecane, motor oil) and is also capable of surfactant-forming activity. It is tolerant to unfavorable environmental conditions (wide pH range, high salinity), xerotolerant and thermotolerant.
