Pheromone biosynthesis activating neuropeptide (PBAN)
This family consists of several moth pheromone biosynthesis activating neuropeptide (PBAN) sequences. Female moths produce and release species specific sex pheromones to attract males for mating. Pheromone biosynthesis is hormonally regulated by the Pheromone Biosynthesis Activating Neuropeptide (PBAN) which is biosynthesized in the subesophageal ganglion (SOG).
