High IGFBP2 Expression Correlates with Tumor Severity in Pediatric Rhabdomyosarcoma.

(Submitter supplied) Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is the most common childhood sarcoma and is identified as either the embryonal or alveolar (ARMS) subtype. In approximately 75% of cases, ARMSs are characterized by specific chromosomal translocations that involve PAX and FKHR genes. Neurogenic potential of human mesenchymal stem cells revisited

(Submitter supplied) The possibility of generating neural cells from human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells by simple in vitro treatments is alluring both conceptually and practically. However, whether phenotypic modulations observed after chemical manipulation of such stem cells truly represent a genuine trans-lineage differentiation remains to be established. Neurogenic potential of mesenchymal stem cells

Comparison of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) treated with dimethylsulphoxide and butylated hydroxyanisole (DMSO/BHA) for 6 or 48 hours to fetal brain (positive control) or adult liver (negative control). Results raise doubts about the DMSO/BHA protocol for generating neural cells from MSCs.
