Gene expression in bovine mammary gland in response to increased milking frequency as determined by microarray and SAGE

(Submitter supplied) Transcript profiling was performed by Affymetrix microarray analysis and SAGE to characterize changes in gene expression in the bovine mammary gland in response to 4× versus 2× daily milking during the first week of lactation. These changes in gene expression may contribute to the increased milk production observed in response to increased milking frequency. Our results indicate that increased milking frequency alters expression of genes in the mammary gland related to increased extracellular matrix remodeling, neovascularization, metabolism, cell proliferation and apoptosis. more...

Changes in transcription patterns in BoMac cells in response to PDD spirochetes

(Submitter supplied) Papillomatous digital dermatitis (PDD) is a polymicrobial infection in soft tissue adjacent to the hoof and is the leading cause of lameness in dairy cattle. Bovine Glomerular and Aortic Endothelial Cells

(Submitter supplied) SAGE libraries were prepared from mRNA of cultured bovine glomerular and aortic endothelial cells. Cells both cell lines were positive for acetylated LDL uptake and vWF expression, and were proven to be free of non-endothelial cells. Cultures were studied at passage 9-10.
