Analysis of 7 day old forebrains pretreated with erythropoietin (EPO) and then subjected to hypoxic-ischemic injury (HI). HI induced by ligation of the common carotid artery and confinement in hypoxic chambers for 50 minutes. Results provide insight into the neuroprotective effect of EPO.
