Rat model of MTLE: Animals with epilepsy vs animals without epilepsy (codelink)

(Submitter supplied) Neither the molecular basis of the pathologic tendency of neuronal circuits to generate spontaneous seizures (epileptogenicity) nor anti-epileptogenic mechanisms that maintain a seizure-free state are well understood. Here, we performed transcriptomic analysis in the intrahippocampal kainate model of temporal lobe epilepsy in rats using both Agilent and Codelink microarray platforms to characterize the epileptic processes. more...

Intrahippocampal kainate model of temporal lobe epilepsy: dentate gyrus

Analysis of an animal model of focal epilepsy in which kainic acid (KA) is injected into the right posterior hippocampus. The dentate gyrus (DG) adjacent to the KA lesion and the non-lesioned contralateral side were examined in each animal. Results provide insight into molecular basis of epilepsy.

GE Healthcare/Amersham Biosciences CodeLink™ Rat Whole Genome Bioarray

(Submitter supplied) Well-annotated mRNA or coding sequences were chosen to ensure usefulness for a large range of applications in basic research, biotechnology, and drug development. Each sequence was carefully screened to ensure high-quality, specific probe design, and to reduce redundancy of gene targets. All of the probes designed to these sequences were functionally tested, and over 95% were functionally validated against 10 rat tissues to ensure best representation of the gene and biologically relevant results. more...
