Comparison of HNF4 null mouse embryonic livers with control mouse embryonic livers

(Submitter supplied) To study the role of hepatic nuclear factor alpha (HNF4a in hepatogenesis, we used loxP-Cre technology to eliminate it from developing mouse livers. A comparison of control and experimental livers revealed that hepatocytes lacking HNF4a_failed to fully differentiate. Specifically, HNF4a null liver cells failed to express genes that are markers of mature hepatocytes including Gys2, Pck1, and G6pc. Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 alpha knockout effect on the embryonic liver

Analysis of embryonic day 18.5 livers lacking hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 alpha (HNF4alpha). Cre/lox system used to knock out Hnf4a in liver. HNF4alpha is a nuclear hormone transcription factor. Results provide insight into the role of HNF4alpha in hepatogenesis.
