Relationship between insulin sensitivity and gene expression in human skeletal muscle (Study B)

Vastus lateralis muscle gene expression after local physical deconditioning and exercise training

(Submitter supplied) The leg of healthy volunteers was locally deconditioned using three weeks of unilateral lower limb suspension (ULLS). The extremely deconditioned legs of subjects with a spinal cord injury (SCI) were trained using eight weeks of functional electrical stimulation (FES) exercise, 2-3 times per week (total 20 sessions). Relationship between insulin sensitivity and gene expression in human skeletal muscle (Study A)

(Submitter supplied) To identify genes correlated to insulin sensitivity in skeletal muscle, we studied 38 non-diabetic men from Malmö, Sweden. Briefly, the Malmö Exercise Intervention cohort consists of sedentary but otherwise healthy male subjects from southern Sweden. They all have European ancestry and 18 of them have a first-degree family member with T2D.
