Expression data from mouse neonatal ovarian 3MC culture experiments

(Submitter supplied) Mammalian females are born with a finite number of non-renewing primordial follicles, the majority of which remain in a quiescent state for many years. Due to their non-renewing nature, these resting oocytes are particularly vulnerable to xenobiotic insult, resulting in premature ovarian senescence and the formation of dysfunctional oocytes. In this study we characterised the mechanisms of ovotoxicity for the ovotoxic agent 3-methylcholanthrene (3MC), which targets immature follicles. more...

Expression data from mouse neonatal ovarian DMBA and BaP culture experiments

(Submitter supplied) Mammalian females are born with a finite number of non-renewing primordial follicles, the majority of which remain in a quiescent state for many years. Due to their non-renewing nature, these “resting” oocytes are particularly vulnerable to xenobiotic insult, resulting in premature ovarian senescence and the formation of dysfunctional oocytes. In this study we characterised the mechanisms of ovotoxicity for the ovotoxic agent 7,12-dimethylbenz-[a]anthracene (DMBA), which targets immature follicles. more...

Due to their non-renewing nature, these “resting” oocytes are particularly vulnerable to xenobiotic insult, resulting in premature ovarian senescence and the formation of dysfunctional oocytes. In this study we characterised the mechanisms of ovotoxicity for three ovotoxic agents, 4-Vinylcyclohexene Diepoxide (VCD), Methoxychlor (MXC), and Menadione (MEN), all of which target immature follicles. more...

Neonatal ovarian xenobiotic cultures

Analysis of ovaries from Swiss neonates cultured in media containing xenobiotics: 4-vinylcyclohexene diepoxide, methoxychlor, menadione. Non-renewing follicles are vulnerable to xenobiotic insult. Results provide insight into molecular mechanisms underlying xenobiotic-induced preantral ovotoxicity.

Age-related changes in gene expression patterns of immature and aged rat primordial follicles

(Submitter supplied) Women are born with millions of primordial follicles which gradually decrease with increasing age and this irreversible supply of follicles completely exhausts at menopause. The fertility capacity of women diminishes in parallel with aging. The mechanisms for reproductive aging are not fully understood. In our recent work we observed a decline in BRCA1 mediated DNA repair in aging rat primordial follicles. more...
