Differentially expressed miRNA in biological premature ovarian insufficiency (bPOI)

(Submitter supplied) We first examined changes of miRNAs and expression using microarrays ( Exiqon miRCURY™ microarray LNA v.18.0) of GCs from 10 bPOI and 10 age and BMI matched normal control women. Seventy-five miRNAs (Fold Change [FC]>2, P<0.05) were identified differentially expressed between bPOI patients and control women.

MicroRNAs Modulate Oxidative Stress in Hypertension through PARP-1 Regulation

(Submitter supplied) Oxidative stress is thought to contribute to aging and age-related diseases, such as cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. Here we report that the Poly-(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP-1), a DNA damage sensor protein involved in DNA repair and other cellular processes, is upregulated with hypertension in African American women. To further explore this mechanism, we identified two microRNAs, miR-103a-2-5p and miR-585-5p that are differentially-expressed with hypertension and were predicted to target PARP-1. more...

Next Generation Sequencing Facilitates Quantitative Analysis of Pressure Type and control Transcriptomes

(Submitter supplied) With the aim to reveal the function of microRNAs in Hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) in response to portal hypertension, primary rat HSCs were exposed to pressure (10mmHg, 1 h) by using a pressure induced apparatus. Appling next-generation sequencing screened the pressurization induced miRNAs expression profile in HSCs. Among them miR-9a-5p was confirmed to be significantly increased after loading pressure in HSC by RT-PCR. more...

Ectopic microRNA-150 transcription mimics GR therapy response in GC sensitive MM1S multiple myeloma cells but fails to overcome GC resistance in MM1R cells

(Submitter supplied) Glucocorticoids (GCs) are commonly used to treat patients suffering from lymphoid malignancies i.e. leukemia and multiple myeloma. Although GCs are known to be strong inducers of apoptosis in lymphoid cells, the molecular determinants of GC therapy resistance are poorly understood. Although GC treatment triggers important changes in gene expression, few studies have addressed the regulatory role of small regulatory microRNAs (miRNAs) in GC therapy response. more...

Identification of microRNA biomarkers in the blood of breast cancer patients based on microRNA profiling

(Submitter supplied) Accumulating evidence indicates that human circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) could serve as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in various cancers. We aimed to explore novel miRNA biomarkers in the blood of breast cancer patients based on miRNA profiling. A miRCURY™ LNA Array was used to identify differentially altered miRNAs in the whole blood of breast cancer patients (n = 6) and healthy controls (n = 6). more...
