Expression profiling in perinatal Ductus Arteriosus (DA) and Aorta (Ao).

(Submitter supplied) Compared the gene expression profiles of two contiguous vessels pre and post - birth, namely the Ductus Arteriosus (DA), committed to become a fibrous ligament, and the Aorta (Ao), which conversely takes on a permanent activity. Microarray gene expression analysis in ovine ductus arteriosus during fetal development and birth transition.

(Submitter supplied) Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in the newborn is the most common congenital heart anomaly, and is significantly more common in preterm infants. Contemporary pharmacological treatment is effective in only 70 to 80% of the cases. Moreover, indomethacin or ibuprofen, which are used to close a PDA may be accompanied by serious side effects in premature infants. To explore the novel molecular pathways, which may be involved in the maturation and closure of the ductus arteriosus (DA), we used fetal and neonatal sheep to test the hypothesis that maturational development of DA is associated with significant alterations in specific mRNA expression.

Dlx1 and Rgs5 in the Ductus Arteriosus: Vessel-specific Genes Identified by Transcriptional Profiling of Laser-capture Microdissected Endothelial and Smooth Muscle Cells

(Submitter supplied) Closure or patency of the ductus arteriosus is a critical event in neonatal life. We aimed to identify genes that are specifically expressed in the ductus arteriosus versus (the non-closing) aorta Gene expression profiling of laser-captured microdissected cells offers the opportunity to study gene expression profiles in cells of different embryonic origin

Expression data from endthelial cells in ductus arteriosus and aorta in rat fetuses or neonates

(Submitter supplied) Endothelial cells (Ecs) lining the blood vessels have been known to have a variety of functions and play a central role in homeostasis of the circulatory system. Since ductus arteriosus (DA) has unique characteristics comparing other vessels, we hypothesized that ECs were the primary target to investigate the molecular mechanisms of DA-specific vasoconstriction and vascular remodeling.

Fetal and neonatal ductus arteriosus and aorta: endothelial cells

Analysis of endothelial cells (ECs) isolated from the ductus arteriosus (DA) and aorta of fetuses and neonates. The DA, a fetal shunt artery between the pulmonary artery and the aorta, closes immediately after birth. Results provide insight into EC involvement in DA-specific morphology and function.

Transcriptional profiles in the chicken ductus arteriosus during hatching

(Submitter supplied) The ductus arteriosus constricts after birth or hatching and eventually closes to terminate embryonic circulation. Chicken embryos have two long ductus arteriosus. Then the pulmonary artery-sided and descending aorta-sided ductus arteriosus have distinct functional characteristics, such as oxygen responsiveness. We used microarrays to elucidate the difference between the pulmonary artery-sided and descending aorta-sided ductus arteriosus in their transcriptional profiles.
