Organized and growth-arrested mammary acini: time course

Temporal analysis of two nonmalignant mammary epithelial cells (HMEC) grown in a laminin-rich extracellular matrix. Both HMECs transit from a disorganized to an organized state to form polarized acini. Results identify gene signatures with potential value for breast cancer prognosis prediction.

Transcription profiling time series of finite life span and immortal non-malignant human mammary epithelial cell lines

(Submitter supplied) Nonmalignant human mammary epithelial cells (HMEC) seeded in laminin-rich extracellular matrix (lrECM) form polarized acini and, in doing so, transit from a disorganized proliferating state to an organized growth-arrested state. We hypothesized that the gene expression pattern of organized and growth-arrested HMECs would share similarities with breast tumors with good prognoses. MicroRNA regulations during differentiation of mouse mammary stem cell-like cells

(Submitter supplied) MicroRNAs are likely to play pivotal roles in both stem cells and cancer, and are further promising candidates for future therapeutic purposes. To understand the involvement of microRNAs throughout mammary cell differentiation, and the association between microRNAs, stem cells and cancer we profiled the expression of all known microRNA in different stages of mammary cell differentiation.

An estrogen-dependent model of breast cancer created by transformation of normal human mammary epithelial cells

(Submitter supplied) This study was performed to check that ESR1 and BMI1 are biologically active after lentiviral transduction of primary human mammary epithelial cells (HMECs) with lentiviral vectors expressing ESR1 and BMI1 from the human PGK promoter. ESR1 targets like PGR, PRLR and GREB1, but not TFF1 and XBP1, were induced by estradiol in the ESR1-expressing cells. A Splice Variant of HER2 Activates Key Signaling Cascades and Evokes Mammary Tumors and Metastases

(Submitter supplied) The Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (ERBB2 or HER2) is amplified and overexpressed in approximately 20% of invasive breast cancers and is associated with metastasis and poor prognosis. Gene expression profiling of the 20 human early breast carcinomas by three miaroarray platforms

(Submitter supplied) In this study, we profiled gene expressions on 20 biopsy tissues of early stage breast carcinoma using Applied Biosystem’s Human Genome Survey Microarrays. Two main previously defined clinically relevant subtypes of breast tumors, Luminal A (longest survival time) and Basal (shortest survival time) were identified.
