Aging aggravates aortic aneurysm and dissection via the miR-1204-MYLK signaling axis

(Submitter supplied) The mechanism by which aging induces aortic aneurysm and dissection (AAD) remains unclear. A total of 430 subjects were recruited for screening of differentially expressed plasma microRNAs. We found that miR-1204 was significantly increased in both plasma and aorta of elder patients with AAD, and was positively correlated with age. Cell senescence induced the expression of miR-1204 through p53 interaction with plasmacytoma variant translocation 1, and miR-1204 induced vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) senescence to form a positive feedback loop. more...

miRNA expression profiling and identification of a miRNA regulator for muscle regeneration in the ischemic limb with proanthocyanidins treatment of adult mice

(Submitter supplied) Using the highly sensitive miRNA array, we screened 411 differentially expressed genes microRNAs in the ischemic muscle with proanthocyanidins treatment and we explored the functions of these miRNAs in the ischemic muslce by Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes annotation. The enrichment results indicated that these miRNAs mainly participated in the muscle regeneration process. Furthermore, the quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, immunohistochemistry and dual luciferase reporter assay results showed that miR-133b-3p is a specific regulator of MKP1/ p38-MAPK signal axis, offering a novel therapeutic opportunity for limb ischemic injury.

MicroRNA expression profiling of livers from the conditional doxycyline-regulatable c-Myc-driven liver tumor mouse model during tumor development and regression.

(Submitter supplied) Progressing and regressing liver tumor tissues (depending on the group) were subjected to miRNA profiling to identify the miRNA changes occuring during tumor development and regression. Conditional doxycyline-regulatable c-Myc-driven mice get liver tumors following doxycycline (Dox) withdrawal from their diet. When mice are re-administered Dox through their diet, tumors start to regress.
