microRNA expression data from liver samples of mice fed with a high fat diet for 24 weeks

(Submitter supplied) Although the global prevalence of obesity and type 2 diabetes is rising, the molecular mechanisms of dysregulated glucose and lipid metabolism are still incompletely understood. Epigenetic mechanisms were shown to have an impact in disease manifestation, but the underlying hepatic miRNA expression signature is not completely elucidated. We used microarrays to perform a comprehensive screen of the complete microRNA transcriptome in liver samples of diet induced obese (DIO) mice in order to identify expressed microRNAs that might target genes of hepatic lipid and glucose metabolism.

Liver microRNA transcriptome reveals miR-182 as link between type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease in obesity

(Submitter supplied) Although the global prevalence of type 2 diabetes is still rising, the molecular mechanisms of dysregulated glucose and lipid metabolism are still incompletely understood. Epigenetic mechanisms were shown to have an impact in disease manifestation, but still the hepatic miRNA expression signature in diabetic subjects was not completely elucidated. We used microarrays to performe a genome wide screen of the complete noncoding RNA transcriptome in order to identify dsyregulated miRNAs which target genes of the hepatic glucose and lipid metabolism.

miRNA expression profiles of whole blood cells from a Han Chinese population with or without Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus or/and its complications in nephropathy and retinopathy

(Submitter supplied) Our main purpose is to screen specific biomarkers for supporting diagnoses of type-2 diabetic nephropathy (T2DN), type-2 diabetic retinopathy (T2DR), and type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) without these complications. The miRNA expression database was built to study T2D in humans with the performance of the GeneChip™ miRNA 4.0 array analysis. The notable highlight of the analysis results in RNA expression shows there are three main groups which include one control group and two diabetic groups. more...

Distinct microRNA and protein profiles of extracellular vesicles secreted from myotubes from morbidly obese donors with type 2 diabetes in response to electrical pulse stimulation [EPS_CL]

(Submitter supplied) We have used a combined transcriptome-proteome approach to describe how EPS affected the cargo of extracellular vesicles derived from myotubes from morbidly obese patients with T2D, and revealed several new factors, both miRs and proteins, that might act as exercise factors. During exercise, skeletal muscles release signaling factors that communicate with other organs and mediate beneficial effects of exercise. more...

Integrative analysis of pathology, mRNA and microRNA in a polygenic diabetes model, NONcNZO10/LtJ mice

(Submitter supplied) The NONcNZO10/LtJ mouse is a polygenic model of type-2 diabetes (T2D) that shows moderate obesity and diabetes, and is regarded as a good model reflective of the conditions of human T2D. In this study, we analyzed pathological changes of pancreases with the progress of time by using histopathology and gene expression analysis, including microRNA. A number of gene expression changes associated with decreased insulin secretion (possibly regulated by miR-29a/b) were observed, and zinc homeostasis (Slc30a8, Mt1 and Mt2) or glucose metabolism (Slc2a2) was suggested as being the candidate mechanism of pancreas failure in NONcNZO10/LtJ mice. more...

Validation data for Lawrence Livermore Microbial Detection Array version 1

(Submitter supplied) We designed a pan-Microbial Detection Array (MDA) to detect all known viruses (including phage), bacteria, and plasmids. Family-specific probes were selected for all sequenced viral and bacterial complete genomes, segments, and plasmids. Probes were designed to tolerate some sequence variation to enable detection of divergent species with homology to sequenced organisms. The array has wider coverage of bacterial and viral targets based on more recent sequence data and more probes per target than other microbial detection/discovery arrays in the literature. more...
