Summary
This region contains multiple conserved elements and DNase I hypersensitive sites overlapping with enhancers of Cd8a (CD8a molecule). Enhancer fragments in this region direct expression to different T cell lineages, including DP thermocytes and mature CD8+ T cells. These sequences may synergize with enhancers located nearby in the CII and CIII DNase I hypersensitive regions. Binding by the POZ (BTB) and AT hook containing zinc finger 1 protein suppresses enhancer activity, causing variegated expression. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]

RefSeqs maintained independently of Annotated Genomes

These reference sequences exist independently of genome builds. Explain

These reference sequences are curated independently of the genome annotation cycle, so their versions may not match the RefSeq versions in the current genome build. Identify version mismatches by comparing the version of the RefSeq in this section to the one reported in Genomic regions, transcripts, and products above.
