Summary
This region represents a conserved enhancer located approximately 17 kb upstream of the fibroblast growth factor 19 gene. A subregion can drive expression of a reporter transgene in the developing nervous system. Another subregion was also validated as an enhancer by the ChIP-STARR-seq massively parallel reporter assay in naive and primed human embryonic stem cells, where it associates with the NANOG transcription factor and is marked by the H3K4me1 histone modification.
