A structural constituent of muscle. Involved in muscle tissue development and sarcomere organization. Located in Z disc and nucleus. Colocalizes with actin cytoskeleton. Is expressed in adult head; adult heart; muscle system; and trunk mesoderm. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in dilated cardiomyopathy; dilated cardiomyopathy 1M; hypertrophic cardiomyopathy; and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy 12.
