In the jejunums of Cryptosporidium-parvum-infected rats, daily octreotide therapy decreased mRNA levels of SSTR1 on day 14 post-infection, although it increased mRNA levels of SSTR1 on day 50 post-infection. Specific SSTRs may regulate the inflammatory pathway in the rat intestinal inflammation model.
