Hyperthermophilic bacterium

Lineage: Bacteria[32165]; Aquificae[38]; Aquificae[37]; Aquificales[27]; Aquificaceae[14]; Aquifex[2]; Aquifex aeolicus[1]
Aquifex aeolicus. This hyperthermophilic organism grows optimally at 95 C on hydrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and mineral salts. It is one of the earliest diverging bacteria known (deepest branching) based on 16S ribosomal RNA sequencing and phylogenetic analyses. Many of the enzymes this organism produces are studied due to their heat stable nauture.
