Actinomyces oris

Oral bacterium involved in dental plaque formation

Lineage: Bacteria[37505]; Actinomycetota[4918]; Actinomycetes[4472]; Actinomycetales[143]; Actinomycetaceae[134]; Actinomyces[48]; Actinomyces oris[1]
Actinomyces oris. Actinomyces oris, formerly Actinomyces naeslundii, is part of the normal oral microflora in humans and plays a role in the formation of dental plaque. This organism creates a biofilm on the dental surface which provides a suitable matrix for colonization by other oral bacterium.
