Title |
Transcriptome analysis of C. albicans response to mucin from porcine stomach |
Organism |
Candida albicans SC5314 |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
|
Summary |
An RNA-Seq study was undertaken to compare the global response of the fungus C. albicans to intestinal mucin (compared to control medium and medium containing glucose).

|
Overall design |
C. albicans wild type strain was cultured in yeast nitrogen base (YNB) medium (Becton and Dickinson) alone or supplemented with either glucose or mucin from porcine stomach (Sigma). Cultures were incubated at 37°C for 24 h under anaerobic conditions. Cells were collected by centrifugation and RNA was extracted with the RiboPure™ RNA Purification Kit for yeast (Thermo Fisher Scientific) following the manufacturer’s instructions. Illumina library preparation and paired-end sequencing were carried out by Novogene (Cambridge, UK) following standard operating procedures.
