Treatment protocol An age-matched cohort of mice received no ionizing radiation while additional cohorts received 5 Gy in a single dose or 17.5 Gy in a single dose.
Growth protocol At 2, 4, 8, 16, and 30 weeks post-ionizing radiation samples of lung were collected in 3 mice at each radiation dose (including 0 Gy).
Extracted molecule total RNA
Extraction protocol Trizol extraction of total RNA was performed according to the manufacturer's instructions followed by cleaning on a Qiagen RNAeasy column.
Label biotin
Label protocol Biotinylated cRNA were prepared according to the standard Affymetrix protocol.
 
Hybridization protocol Following fragmentation, 10 ug of cRNA were hybridized for 16 hr at 45C on Mouse430_2 microarray. GeneChips were washed and stained in the Affymetrix Fluidics Station 400.
Scan protocol GeneChips were scanned using the GeneChip array scanner 3000 7 G.

Data processing The data were analyzed with Robust Multichip Average (RMA) using quantile normalization and reported in log2 scale.
