Growth protocol Mice were housed in a sterile and temperature controlled environment and fed a standard lab diet (Purina 5001).
Extracted molecule total RNA
Extraction protocol The small intestine, starting from the base of the stomach and ending just before the cecum, was excised and then flushed with ice-cold saline prior to tissue homogenization. RNA was extracted from homogenates using Trizol (Invitrogen) and assessed for integrity (RIN>7) prior to use in microarray analysis.
Label Cy3
Label protocol Fluorescently labeled cDNA probes for each RNA pool was prepared following the procedures specified by the manufacturer.
 
Hybridization protocol cDNA was hybridized to Affymetrix 430A and 430B chips following the procedures specified by the manufacturer.
Scan protocol Signals were acquired using the Affymetrix GeneChip Scanner Model 3000.

Data processing The data were processed and analyzed using the R statistical environment and Bioconductor software (www.bioconductor.org) and to log2 scale using the RMA algorithm with background correction
