The cell line was established from the cells after culturing in RPMI-1640 supplemented with 10% FBS and 0.1% gentamicin sulfate (Gemini Bioproducts). The cell line had gone through 4 doublings to yield 2 x 107 cells. The cell line was routinely screened for mycoplasma sps. Using a PCR-based ELISA detection assay (Roche). Cell manipulations were always performed on 80-90% confluent cultures for consistency. mRNA was isolated using a direct mRNA extraction kit.
