RNeasy Fibrous Tissue Mini Kit (Qiagen, Hilden, Germany) was used to extract skeletal muscle total RNA. Total RNA was extracted from the tissue cryopreserved with liquid nitrogen according to the kit’s instructions.

Biotinylated cRNA was synthesized by GeneChip 3' IVT PLUS Reagent Kit Thermo Fisher Scientific) from 100 ng total RNA according to the manufacturer's instructions. Biotinylated cRNA yield was checked with the NanoDrop ND-2000 Spectrophotometer.

Hybridization protocol |
Following fragmentation, 15 ug of cRNA was hybridized for 16 hr at 45˚C on GeneChip Mouse Genome 430 2.0 Array. GeneChip array was washed and stained in the GeneChip Fluidics Station 450 (Thermo Fisher Scientific).

Scan protocol |
GeneChip array was scanned using GeneChip Scanner 3000 7G.

Data processing |
Single Array Analysis was calculated by Microarray Suite version 5.0 (MAS5.0) with Thermo Fisher Scientific default setting and global scaling as normalization method. The trimmed mean target intensity of each array was arbitrarily set to 500.
