Treatment protocol Cells were treated with 15 mM rat or human IAPP dissolved in media, and incubated for 12 hours at 37 degrees C.
Growth protocol BMDMs were propagated from bone marrow in complete DMEM containing 15% L929-conditioned media for 7 days. Cells were seeded in 24-well plates and starved of L929-containing media for 12 hours prior to the experiment.
Extracted molecule total RNA
Extraction protocol RNA was extracted with Buffer RLT provided in a QIAGEN RNeasy Plus mini kit in accordance with the prescribed protocol provided with the kit. Quality control was performed with an Agilent Bioanalyser.

Label protocol Biotinylated cRNA were prepared with the Ambion MessageAmp kit for Illumina arrays
