Total RNA was isolated and purified from frozen skin tissues using TRIzol according to the manufacturer's protocol (Ambion, Austin, TX, USA). The quality and concentration of RNA were determined using a NanoDrop 1000 spectrophotometer (Thermo Fisher Scientific). RNA integrity was analyzed using an Agilent Bioanalyzer 2100.

| Data processing |
Array data were normalized using the Affymetrix expression console MAS 5.0 method as described previously. Statistical significance was calculated using Welch’s t-test with a non-corrected p-value<0.05 and validated using permutation testing across samples. Most significant probe sets were submitted to ingenuity pathway analysis (IPA) software (IPA®, QIAGEN, Redwood City) for pathway analysis
