Extraction protocol The intestine endothelial layer was collected by scraping and homogenized into TRIzol reagent (Invitrogen). Total RNA was isolated with the MagMAX-96 for Microarrays Total RNA isolation kit (Ambion).

Label protocol Labelling of the samples was carried out at the Microarray Facility in Leuven (MAF, Leuven, Belgium).
 
Hybridization protocol Hydridizations and washing of the chips were carried out at the Microarray Facility in Leuven (MAF, Leuven, Belgium).
Scan protocol Scanning of the chips was carried out at the Microarray Facility in Leuven (MAF, Leuven, Belgium).

Data processing The data were collected using the Affymetrix standard protocol and processed and normalized using Chipster Software Suite version 2.0 using Affymetrix default analysis settings and RMA as normalization method. Variances were not stabilized.
