A grade 3 or 4 glioma that arises from the brain. This category includes anaplastic astrocytoma, anaplastic ependymoma, anaplastic oligoastrocytoma, anaplastic oligodendroglioma, anaplastic pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (all grade 3 gliomas), and glioblastoma (grade 4 glioma). [from NCI]
