CYP4F11 is a member of the CYP4F family of P450 enzymes (see CYP4F2; 604426) (Cui et al., 2000).
By screening a human hippocampus cDNA library with rat Cyp4f6 cDNA as probe, followed by RT-PCR, Cui et al. (2000) cloned full-length CYP4F11. The deduced 524-amino acid protein shares 80%, 82.3%, and 79.2% amino acid identity with CYP4F2, CYP4F3 (601270), and CYP4F8 (611545), respectively. In vitro translation produced a 57-kD protein. Northern blot analysis of human tissues detected a major 1.8-kb transcript and additional 2.5- and 2.8-kb transcripts with strong expression in liver, followed by moderate expression of the 2.8-kb transcript in kidney, and very low expression in heart, skeletal muscle, and placenta.
Cui et al. (2000) determined that the CYP4F11 gene contains 12 exons.
Gross (2018) mapped the CYP4F11 gene to chromosome 19p13.12 based on an alignment of the CYP4F11 sequence (GenBank AF236085) with the genomic sequence (GRCh38).
