HGNC Approved Gene Symbol: TMEM232
Cytogenetic location: 5q22.1 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 5:110,387,431-110,738,954 (from NCBI)
Members of the transmembrane (TMEM) protein family, such as TMEM232, are components of cellular membranes, including mitochondrial membranes, endoplasmic reticulum, lysosomes, and the Golgi apparatus (Zheng et al., 2021).
Using Western blot analysis, Zheng et al. (2021) found that levels of the T helper-2 cytokines IL4 (147780) and IL13 (147683) increased following overexpression of TMEM232 and decreased following knockdown of TMEM232 in HaCaT keratinocytes.
Zheng et al. (2021) stated that the TMEM232 gene maps to chromosome 5q22.1.
