Minimum Data Criteria

As part of the technical evaluation phase of the PMC evaluation and setup process, the publisher submits a representative set of sample files, which are evaluated to ensure that the journal's data meets PMC's technical quality standards. If a sample file submission fails to meet these minimum requirements, a journal's application to PMC will be rejected.

If you are using the NISO JATS Journal Publishing Tag Set, PMC strongly suggests that you tag your articles so that they conform to PMC Style. You can use the Online PMC Style Checker or download a version of the Style Checker that can be run locally to confirm that any JATS XML file conforms to PMC Style.

Articles submitted to PMC must contain publication dates that accurately reflect the journal's publication model, following these general guidelines for publication date tagging.
