NCBI has Retired the Probe Database

As previously announced, NCBI planned to retire web pages for the Probe database at the end of April, 2020. We have also removed links to Probe from the NCBI home page and other resources, and the database will no longer accept any new data submissions. Although the Probe web interfaces are now retired, the content of the database is frozen and will continue to be available on NCBI's FTP site. The Probe database was originally implemented as a registry of nucleic acid reagents for biomedical research applications, at a time when array-based assays were prevalent. With the advent of short read sequencing, however, use of these technologies declined, and resulted in a significant drop in the usage of and need for the Probe database. Please contact us at info@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov with any questions or concerns. All Probe-related web pages will now redirect to this post.
