Abstract
Two distinct hemagglutinin genotypes were identified in canine distemper viruses circulating among dogs since 1991 in Japan. One is the native and numerically predominant KDK-1 genotype, while the other is the 98-002 genotype that may have evolved in the Far East beyond the border between Japan and the Republic of Korea.
