show Abstracthide AbstractSyrian golden hamsters (Mesocricetus auratus) experimentally infected with Pirital virus (PIRV) develop fatal hemorrhagic disease with many clinical similarities to South American hemorrhagic fevers and Lassa fever. We examined the livers of hamsters infected with PIRV by RNA-Seq and identified differentially-expressed transcripts. THe goal of this work is to develop a model for human arenavirus pathology.
