Treatment protocol A peripheral blood sample was collected in a PAXgene blood RNA tube (BD, City, NJ, USA), left at room temperature for 2 hours after sufficient mixing, and then stored at −20℃.
Extracted molecule total RNA
Extraction protocol The stored tube was used for total RNA extraction with the PAXgene Blood miRNA Kit (QIAGEN, City, CA, USA). RNA was quantified using a NanoDrop-1000 spectrophotometer and quality was monitored with the Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer.
Label Cy3
Label protocol Cyanine 3-labeled cRNA was prepared from 100 ng total RNA using the Low Input Quick Amp Labeling Kit according to the manufacturer’s protocol.
 
Hybridization protocol Agilent one-color gene expression hyb/wash protocol.
Scan protocol Microarrays were scanned using a G2505C DNA Microarray Scanner.
Description Gene expression profile in the peripheral blood after Placebo intake.
Data processing The images were converted to numerical values by Feature Extraction Software ver. 10.7.3.1. Data analysis used GeneSpring GX v11.5 (Agilent Technologies) with which inter-array normalization was done using the 75th percentile.
