Extraction protocol Trizol extraction of total RNA was performed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Label biotin
Label protocol Biotinylated cRNA were prepared according to the standard Affymetrix protocol from total RNA (Expression Analysis Technical Manual, 2001, Affymetrix).
 
Hybridization protocol Following fragmentation, cRNA were hybridized for overnight at 45C on Affymetrix moe430_2.0 microarray chip.
Scan protocol Each cRNA bound at its complementary oligonucleotide was excited using confocal laser scanner, and the positions and intensities of the fluorescent emissions were captured. These measures provided the basis of subsequent analysis.
