RNA-seq reads were mapped to genomes using the GSNAP short read alignment program Gene expression estimates of protein-coding genes (FPKM) were performed using Cufflinks (v2.2.1). Genome_build: version 77 of Ensembl Supplementary_files_format_and_content: Text file to be opened in R. The file contains the final expression values for all species used in this study.
