Tissue was homogenized and RNA was extracted using ReliaPrep RNA Miniprep System (Promega) and used as input for library preparation according to protocol. Libraries were sequenced on an Illumina Hiseq4000.

Reads were mapped to mm10 build of the mouse transcriptome using STAR (Dobin et al. 2013).
Differential expression analysis was performed using the DESeq2 package based on a model using the negative binomial distribution (Love, Huber, and Anders 2014).
